The Miami Dolphins have signed wide receiver Brandon Gibson, it was announced today.
“We are happy that Brandon is joining the team,” said Dolphins General Manager Jeff Ireland. “Coupled with the earlier addition today of Dustin Keller, we feel that we have added some very good pieces to our passing game.”
The 6-0, 205-pound Gibson joins Miami after spending the last four seasons (2009-12) with the St. Louis Rams where he appeared in 54 games with 38 starts. In 2012, he recorded 51 receptions for a career high 691 yards and five touchdowns while starting 13 of the 16 games in which he appeared. Prior to joining the Rams he spent the first five weeks of the 2009 season with the Philadelphia Eagles and appeared in one game prior to being traded along with a draft pick to St. Louis for linebacker Will Witherspoon on October 20, 2009. Originally a six-round selection (194nd overall) in 2009 NFL Draft by the Eagles, Gibson has amassed 174 receptions for 2,090 yards and nine touchdowns during his career.
Gibson was a four-year letterman at Washington State (2005-08) he started in 38 of the 46 he appeared in and completed his career as the school’s all-time leader in career receiving yards with 2,756 yards, ranked second on career receptions list with182 and sixth in career touchdown receptions with 17. While with the Cougars he was also a member of the 2005 basketball team. Born August 13, 1987 in Germany, Gibson attended Rogers High School in Puyallup, Washington.
