Dolphins to Support PINK SHIRT DAY 2013

Help put a stop to bullying!  Be sure to wear a pink shirt on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, to show your support for programs that educate our youth on how to cope with bullying.  Pink Shirt Day is an international event brought to our local area by the Turning Bullies into Buddies program of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.

In celebration of Pink Shirt Day, the entire community is invited to see 700 youth from the Turning Bullies into Buddies program perform musical numbers at the Meyer Amphitheatre in downtown West Palm Beach, beginning at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 27.  The event will be hosted by Mike Trim, local television journalist with WPTV, Newschannel 5.  Guest speakers will include Geraldine “Jeri” Muoio, Mayor of the City of West Palm Beach; Vincent Demasi, Chief of Police for the City of West Palm Beach; Trudy Ludwig, award-winning children’s author; and Rebecca Zerbo, an eighth grade student at Eagles Landing Middle School and CEO/Founder of Positive Pocket, a nonprofit that provides reminders to victims of bullying that they matter.  There will also be special appearances by Michaela Paige, the former Olympic Heights student who competed nationally on the NBC show ‘The Voice,’ as well as Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders and a Miami Dolphins player.

Join the Literacy Coalition in spreading the message that bullying stops here!  Encourage your family, friends, and coworkers to wear pink on Wednesday, February 27 and to be part of the Pink Shirt Day events at the Meyer Amphitheatre.  Public parking is available at the Evernia Street garage.

The Pink Shirt Day event is made possible by Prime Time Palm Beach County with generous funding from the Children’s Services Council Palm Beach County and partnerships with the Center for Creative Education, The City of West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach County School District and Palm Beach County.
